Crystal Reports - Poll

Please take the following poll about Crystal Reports for .NET.

1) I use Crystal Reports for .NET because...

a) It's a great tool
b) I'm forced to use it in my job
c) MSSQL Reporting isn't released yet
d) I don't use it

2) If Crystal Reports for .NET was a person, I'd...

a) Shake its hand, and say “Great Job!”
b) Thank it for everything it's done and politely ask when its current bugs are going to be fixed
c) Kidnap it, and force it to fix the current network installation of itself
d) Give it a sharp kick on the knee

FWIW I'd much rather use ActiveReports. It's just a better tool - I don't feel pain when I have to create a report ;)

1 - c becoming d.
2 - c and d, and d, and d.

I will never use this on a project again if I can possibly help it.

Just wasted:
3 days trying to get a histogram to work without messing up it's X & Y axis.
1 day realizing it doesn't work, and writing some histogram code myself.
3 days fighting crystal to get it to load the histogram as a dynamic jpeg (linked OLE object) at runtime. (Hint - it doesn't work - use a bitmap instead).

Any program that doesn't let you mass copy controls and retain DB fields link infos sucks big time for me. So, draw your conclusions...

My question is, if everybody universally hates Crystal, why do you still use it? It's a steaming heap of camel dung and I'm not going to roll around in it just because somebody says I should. I have more self respect than that.

Um. Hi Cubert. Good question. The best answer I can give is that the ones who are buying Crystal are paying the ones who have to use it to roll around in camel dung for them, and they don't see first hand the smelliness of it all.

I'm working with it right now and i absolutely hate it !!! It's a real relief I'm not the only one hating it. I will try to convince my boss to switch to active reports.
