Dave Burke : Pimp My Blog

Dave Burke is rapidly becoming my "Go-To Guy" for Community Server modifications.  His blog is so decked out with customization, he ought to re-name it "Pimp My Blog."  Some of his recent modifications include:

CSBlogs : Expanded Panel Post Display. No longer a compromise
This is a very cool expand-collapse mod for posts.  Look for this soon on CodeBetter.Com.

CSBlogs : Abbreviated post list display with Expanded Panel

A nice home page post list display.

Or, just visit his entire category on Community Server.

Makes me feel like I'm driving a beat up old ford. ;)

"Pimp My Blog." You slay me. Thanks.

There are a few more mods I need to do (like adding a Galleries Image Panel to the Blog Post Editor which I finished today), and then I'm retiring.

While I'm still a CommunityServer Swinger, please let me know how I can be of assistance to you and your fellow Stud Muffins over there at CodeBetter.

Brendan, I wanted to mention that the architecture on both of these mods is kinda bass-ackwards, as I'm sure you'll quickly discover. Oh, they're good mods and work great, but after I put them online I thought more about the "htmlscrubbing" process that creates the post summary dynamically.

One would think that the data should be scrubbed on the way IN, not on the way OUT. This would require an additional SQL field, weblogpost object update, dataprovider update, a one-time app to generate all existing summaries, and updating the Post Editor Create/Update Posts, but something to consider.

Dang, I'm going to have to start versioning my CS Mods now. That sucks.

Dave, next week probably, I'll have some more time to devote to Community Server. I'll be sure to revisit these comments before I do.

You stud.
