Community Server 1.1 Upgrade
I just completed our upgrade to Community Server 1.1. So far, things look good and I've already noticed that many things that weren't working quite right before, are working now.   Thanks again to everyone who worked on this fine piece of software we're using.

I should be able to start blogging again soon, hopefully.  For now, I've been spending my blogging time working on this site.  Not that I'm complaining  tho.. :)  It's fun to be able to support such a nice bunch of people, and Sahil. :)

If you have any suggestions, comments or find a bug, please post it in the forums

Thanks for being part of our community!

Brendan

I had very specific plans for what I was going to do with my night tonight once my daughter had got to...

Sorry if I missed the explanation somewhere else, but does the 1.1 upgrade impact the display rendering of the CB homepage? (Specifically, causing it to simply preview the first few lines of a posting instead of the entire post?)

If so... is there a setting to change it back? Ideally, I'd like to see the entire post of blogs updated withing 24 hours...

Cheers,

Jordan.

Jordan,

I believe that was an intentional tweak we did to make it a bit more pleasant - but if you think it sucks, we could revert.

Brendan's the tweako-king here - his call.

Hi Jordan.

Yes, this is a setting now. We're experimenting with different layouts. I'm thinking of a control to allow the visitor to change their view.

Do you think that would be too confusing?

One thing I notice is that being the CB junkie that I am, I visit the site several times per day but only ever look at blogs posted within the last 24 hours at most.

So, if the tweak was an attempt to make the page load faster or appear better, I would personally prefer being able to see the entire post but limit the number of days worth of posts being shown.

I don't think a user-configurable preference would be too confusing -- especially considering CB's technically minded community members.

Just my two cents, thanks for listening. :o)

Hi Jordan,

I've added a toggle button, which stores your preference for full vs. excerpt view to the blog feed page.

Let me know if this works for you!

Thanks for the feedback.
