Burning the VS 2005 DVD ".img" file
If you've downloaded the VS 2005 .img file and use software like Nero, you'll quickly find that it doesn't support the .img file.

Simply re-name the .img file to .iso, and Nero will burn the DVD

Just thought I'd post this tidbit, in case anyone else runs into this problem.

Now, whether or not I'll have better luck than Geoff installing the thing remains to be seen.

Yeah, I ran into that as well. Worked like a charm! None of my DVD software knew what an img file was :-)

You can use the daemon tools virtual DVD drive to host the image. No need to wait until the burner finishes :)

(My download still has 1 hour and 3 minutes to go)

I can't get Nero StartSmart (6, I think, it came with the pc) or roxio 9 to recognize the .img file under the "burn image to disc" option on either software, even when I rename it with .iso.  The file is and .img file, but it doesn't have that extention.  Any other suggestions out there?  Someone please help!  :(

Add the .img back to the end of the file name and select "Open with....Nero in the drop down.

Thanks for posting this tip. I'm trying out the beta of VS 2008, and it also comes as a .img file.
