URLScan Watcher updated

I updated URLScan Watcher.  New features:

  • MSN Messenger-style popups each time the URLScan log file is changed.
  • You can click on the popup to open the URLScan log.

Thanks to the developers of Genghis for providing the popup functionality.

Download the updated code from the URLScan Watcher workspace.

The popup window looks good Darrell. It's a nice visual alert for when I'm sitting at my computer and the log file is changed.

What do you think about changing the system tray icon when the file changes for those times when I'm away from my computer and I miss the popup window?

And since I have the non-standard path for my Windows installation I get an error "File not found" when I click the link in the popup window. It's not a big issue as I can stick to using my other shortcuts to get to the file.

Sorry I'm a bit late to this, so if this is dumb or obvious just ignore me...

Does this tool work on the local machine or on a remote machine? Ideally I would like a tool like this that I could install on my server at home and have the popup windows on my laptop at work.

Is that how it works? If not, then add that to the feature request list. :)

Jason - the icon change sounds like a good idea. I'll look into that. Also, I assume you changed the config file to a non-standard path, and it still gave you an error? I will definitely fix that.

Peter - excellent idea! I haven't tested it over the network, but will definitely add that as a feature request! Thanks for the feedback!

Darrell - Yes I did change the config file to point to the correct path and still had the error. I can't remember any specific information from the error but I can look into it a bit more later tonight.

Jason - nah, if that's the case I should be able to reproduce the bug. Thanks for the offer, though! I am using GotDotNet Workspaces to track the bugs and feature requests, so if you ever want an update, check it out.

Thanks for being the guinea pig! :)

Darrell - I notice that they have an RSS feed for releases. I'll have to add that to my list of feeds so I know when you need me to break a new version.
