CIO Magazine devotes an entire issue to Agile IT

I recently got my CIO magazine and the entire issue is devoted to Agile IT! There is a list of the top 100 agile IT companies, an article about the Department of Defense’s moves toward agility, how to build an agile IT department, and a lot more. A lot of this is at a pretty high level, so don’t expect to see detailed discussions on the technical merits of extreme programming, but it is definitely a good read about higher-level IT issues. And the more you know about those, the more effective you will be at work.

Is this a [yet another] sign that Agile has hit the mainstream and is no longer eXtreme? I've seen the insides of some DOD projects and they're anything but Agile -- maybe this will turn the tide.

Aren't we're about due for another "edgy" and "subversive" development paradigm to take root now that Agile is so 2001?

Grant - yeah. Extreme Programming is now "almost-mainstream programming." :)

The book I'm reading now by Highsmith takes agile development to a different level, including software/hardware integration projects (what the SEI calls CMMI, I for integration) and new product development. It's almost getting away from agile, except for the name.

I'm actually writing notes about each chapter as I read it, which I will post when I'm finished with the book.
