Review of Visual Studio .NET Tips and Tricks by Minh Nguyen

Visual Studio .NET Tips and Tricks by Minh Nguyen is not a long book (120+ pages), but man is it packed with info. There are a ton of screenshots too, mostly of toolbar icons so you can see what you’re supposed to be clicking. And almost everything is presented with the keyboard shortcut associated with it! Shortcut junkies like myself will find this book as useful as the mousey-types. The tips specify which versions of Visual Studio they are applicable to, and coverage includes Visual Studios 2002, 2003, and 2005 (Beta 1).

Like the book, I’m going to keep this review short. If you aren’t already an IDE power user (if you’re not sure, you probably aren’t) then grab this book.

How do you think it rates with James Avery's "Visual Studio Hacks" book?

Dave - I don't know, not having reading James' book yet. However, the two cover vastly different subjects. Nguyen is about Visual Studio's builtin tools that you may not be aware of, whereas I think (as far as I know) that James' book is about getting under the hood of Visual Studio and making it do things you want but which may not have been envisioned by the creators.
