Cinco de Mayo

Happy Cinco de Mayo!
For those who don't know, Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican holiday (not the Mexican independence day, which is actually September 16) that people in the United States celebrate by drinking Corona and margaritas and listening to Jimmy Buffett.
Happy Cinco de Mayo, Mexico!

I find it very amusing how programmers will be very careful not to allow any bugs into a system and always talk about patterns and all that stuff, and yet will knowingly drink alcohol. This is like knowingly putting bugs into a system. It might be tempting to write that code real quick to get the app working but in the long run you will regret it.

I once interviewed at a job where they served beer after Friday lunch to all programmers. Too bad I don't drink, but I can relate to why that'd be so awesome !!

Anonymous - wrong on 2 counts. First, bugs never "work themselves" out of the system. The liver regenerates continuously as part of its normal operation.

Second, low alcohol intake has no proven health risks. In fact, a daily glass of wine LOWERS the risk for heart disease. If someone drinks too much, then that is indeed a problem.

In Denver we celebrate Cinco De Mayo with traffic jams, cruising, and drunken behavior. I'm afraid it's not one of my favorite holidays. (Although the street fair on Saturday will be fun.)
