Presenting Aspect-Oriented Programming ( AOP ) at IASA Tampa Meeting in February

IASA TampaI will be presenting Aspect-Oriented Programming ( AOP ) at the next IASA Tampa Meeting on Thursday, February 28, 2008. The IASA Tampa Meetings are the last Thursday of each month at the Microsoft Office in Tampa. They typically start at 6:30pm. Scott Dorman does a great job organizing these events.

The abstract is as follows:

Introduction to Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP)

Write less code and create more maintainable applications by leveraging AOP to handle logging, caching, validation, security, and other cross-cutting concerns. In this presentation we will explore AOP functionality built into numerous tools and frameworks such as Castle Windsor, SpringFramework.NET, Enterprise Library's Policy Injection Application Block, and PostSharp so you can better understand its benefits and how to use it in your own applications.

If available by the time of the meeting, I will also show off the Unity Dependency Injection Container in Enterprise Library 4.0 and how to incorporate AOP with it.

I hope to see you there!

David,

I've seen you plan to talk about AOP and PostSharp shortly.

This is just to tell you that I have just published some slides about PostSharp at download.postsharp.org/slides -- feel free to use them. These are very PostSharp-specific, because I currently presented PostSharp to already-AOP-aware audiences. So unfortunately I have no slide giving a general introduction to AOP.

Good luck, and thank you for propagating PostSharp :)

Gael
