Wireless Keyboard / Mouse Combo

I gave the microsoft line of wireless keyboard/mouse combo a shot a few weeks back and I just wanted to say that I ended up returning it.  It states that you should keep the receiver "8 inches away" from any sources of interference.  I moved the receiver all over the desk in varying distances and I just couldn't seem to get a steady, reliable signal.  This meant that it would cut out when I was typing so I would lose keystrokes when coding and during gaming sometimes the mouse not moving would get my head blown off in Unreal Tournament.

Maybe I had a bad unit, it seems other people like these tools but I found them to be fairly unreliable.  I'll stick to my corded world and dealing with my son babbling in babyish and reaching up to yank them.

I've been using the Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo for years, and it still works like a charm. I even have the receiver setting right on top of my computer behind my monitor. No interference. Works great.

I've had my Microsoft mouse/keyboard combo for 3+ years and love it. I can imagine that interference is possible if you have something else on the same frequency. For example, I know my cell phone interferes with my baby monitor and with my computer speakers (that drives me nuts!)

Anyway ... I have one big gripe on the wireless mouse ... it chews through my batteries like there is no end to them. The keyboard not so much, but I have probably changed my mouse batteries once a month. I always keep a spare set in my drawer. :-)

Even so, I love the wireless set. The corded ones always got tangled or in the way with me.

Get a Logitech MX900 I think. That's what I have at home. It comes with a recharger you just set your mouse in at night to recharge the batteries, which is also the receiver.

Bought the Microsoft Combo laser mouse 6000. Used it for 3 days. Left click button would work 18 out of 20 times. Annoying. Found on the net that people had similar problem due to ensor problem on left click.

Replaced with a logitech Lx-700. Works like a charm.
And was in special too at bestbuy :o)
