The more I look at this, the more I fail to understand why this is alternative. I dare to think that there are usergroups that would join up to cherish the tools and technologies of just one company. I think the majority of those that participate in user groups already show some of the points outline in the ALT.NET definition.
I certainly believe that there are a lot of developers that would need to open up their eyes to other things in this world, yet I fail to see how we now need to start categorizing user groups as ALT.NET.
Not necessarily categorizing, more like creating support groups in the community for people that want to pick up these things but don't have access to any kind of mentor at work.
