Mood Indigo

Some days things just don't work the way you want them to work. You think you have found a way to do things but the downside turns up sooner then expected. Yesterday I was hit on the head a couple of times.

  • The 6 beta of FeedDemon has some pecularities in its browser. The encoding starts doing silly things, many blogs quite show exotic charecters instead of tabs. Changing the encoding for the page solves that. Must be a feature I don't understand yet. What is worse is that the back and forward mouse buttons no longer work (they did in beta 5). Those buttons were a larger part of my default behaviour then I ever realized.
  • In a recent blog I explained how I used FrontPage as a blog entry editor and entered the post with a HTML cut and paste. The results can be quite silly when you don't watch carefully what you are doing. Always check what the result looks like.
  • I've been playing with the WSE 2. Trying to build something usefull I stumbled into a serious limitation. Flame me out of here if I say something stupid but you cannot set up more than one soapreceiver on a host. The error-messages popping up points to the underlying socket, to setup another one you have to use a different port. Maybe I am overestimating things but I would have expected the SoapReceivers class to take care of this. Handle the socket and “route“ the data to the different receivers registered.

The last point brings me to todays title. I can't wait to see Indigo. Still my first association, even without being a jazz fan, is Duke Ellington:

You ain't been blue; no, no, no.
You ain't been blue,
Till you've had that mood indigo.

Maybe MS had Big Blue in mind. But I grew up with bands like Canned Heath and Living Blues (to mention just a few) and being blue is not my favourite state of mind.

Blog on,

Peter
