Type Constructors and the JIT Compiler
First, let me say that anyone interested, like me, in the behind-the-scenes of the CLR should be reading David Notario's Weblog, AKA The CLR JIT Compiler Dude. He doesn't post often, but has really great posts. Actually had to suffer with anticipation from November through January of this year because he didn't have any posts.

Back to the topic, David posted a great article on type constructors and how the JIT compiles code regarding cctors. Just wanted to direct your attention that way, if assembly stuff is your thing.
