How do you like CodeBetter.com so far?
What do I like most about CodeBetter (referred to as CB from here on out)?

I like our small community. I like when I load up my rss reader there shows up 4 or 5 or 6 posts and I know I want to read every one of them. To me, it gets out of hand keeping up with 75 posts a day from asp.net or 50 a day from DNJ. I only end up reading 15 or 25 out of a combined 125 a day between the two just because I feel overwhelmed by the number of new posts. Many of the posts are covering the same topic. Compounding this is the fact that I subscribe to close to 180 feeds.

We claim to be pretty good at what we do, always have room to grow and things to learn, and believe we are providing good, meaty, valuable content for the developer community, without a bunch of nonsense "guess what my dog did today" type of posts. We are here for the benefit of the developer community as a whole. We hope to provide you with good content and ideas, and in return hope you provide us with valuable feedback on that content and those ideas. Feedback is very important. There is always someone out there who knows more about a topic that we do, and you just might be one of those people, and we need to hear from you.

We are all incredibly good looking and charming. Not that you can see that, you'll just have to take my word for it.

We collaborate, in a sense of the word. We read eachothers posts. We build on eachothers ideas. This is evidenced clearly by posts such as Eric Wise's post on ASP .NET BasePages - Level 100, which was continued with added value by myself and Brendan Tompkins. Another example is the series I have started on the basics of understanding object-oriented programming which I started here and have begun the continuation here with Encapsulation Defined. Eric Wise has taken the same idea and spelled it out in his version of a bird's eye view in this post. I'll be continuing my series on the topic and hope to cover it in greater detail and depth, but he provided a very good post which covers from a VB.Net POV what I'll be covering in multiple posts from a straight OO POV (or would that be Pov?).

We work for the benefit of the group at CB. This is most evident by the work done on the new look of the site by Geoff Appleby, which he detailed here. He spent his weekend time working on this for the benefit of us, the CB bloggers, and you, the CB reading community.

There are other reasons I like CB, such as I don't get timeouts and comment spam all the time. But we want to know what you think. Do you enjoy our topics? Do you find them of value? Are there topics you would like to see one of us blog about? Do you like the new layout of the site? Do you encounter any problems with the site? Are we a site you visit on a daily basis? Do we blog too much? Not enough? Any praise, comments, rants and raves are greatly appreciated, and right now I'm providing you with an open mike to do so. Also, you can always contact any one of us by clicking the Contact link on our individual blog page.

I think you got the gist of why anybody would like CodeBetter as a blog site.
I like the fact that it is not commercialized, and I hope it stays that way. I dont really like the fact that there's a Crystal Reports ad over my blog, or for that matter anybody else's blog. Google ads are another pain.
Another reason is, as Brendan put it sometime back, a lean and mean feed.

I have personally gotten 2X the hits since I moved to CB. Our bandwidth usage as brendan emails us periodically is simply unbelievable.

I gotta stop reading your blog in my office. My boss keeps asking what I'm laughing at...

CodeBetter is about quality over quantity. We're the slow crafted micro-brewed beer of the blog world, instead of bud light.

I don't know about you guys, but CodeBetter has really made me feel like I have some serious responsibility now. Blogging together with the likes of everyone here, is really a great opportunity for me.

Yesterday, I blogged that SqlDateTime was a value type (which it isn't) - showing my cards, so to speak, in terms of my level of understanding of .NET... I was corrected, and slightly embarrsed too.

But it's all okay. I only know what I know, and those that know me know that. Now that I'm up here with you guys, those that don't know me may get the idea that I know more than I know. You know?

What I'm trying to say is that this has been an awesome experience for me, and this whole thing keeps me on my toes. It's made me want to take blogging more seriously, and it's certainly more fun too!
