Vista RC1 and Ready to Go

My friend Shawn says, "Yes, I said upgrading XP! The good news is that is build is very very good. Not perfect, but very good! I am able to use it as my main box" about Pre-RC Build 5536. I agree 1000%. Since my install a few days ago, I have been blown away at both the performance (yes, I said performance!) and stability of this build. And it's stunningly beautiful! It almost seems like a new OS. Boy is it good and RC is just around the corner! It's out!

Progress

  1. Windows Live components available from Welcome Page and all installed flawlessly including this Windows Live Writer and Windows Live Mail Desktop
  2. Many of Scott's Tool List installed flawlessly
  3. Small problem installing RC of .NET FW 3 Windows SDK. Install program from root of directory will not run, even as Administrator, was able to go down to setup subdirectory and run SDKSetup.exe
  4. Visual Studio 2005 installed and working, SQL Server 2005 Standard in progress
  5. SQL Server Reporting Services will not install on Vista (Microsoft confirms). Thinks there is no IIS even when there is
  6. TFS will not install because VSS 2 install blocked
  7. Vista RC now out! I have upgraded to that and it is now my main desktop
  8. Microsoft Virtual CD and Daemon Tools both don't work for mounting the Vista RC ISO but MagicISO does
