I tried to "upgrade" Vista 5600 RC1 to 5744 today. It was very rocky. I couldn't get the Upgrade to work because it kept saying that Windows Sharepoint Services was installed and I had to uninstall it. I kept running the Office 2007 installer to take out WSS but it kept appearing. Then I unistalled all of Office 2007 and still no upgrade. I finally did a fresh install but the problems didn't end. The system didn't come up with the NVidia GeForce FX Go5200 driver installed.. I installed it and all seemed well. Then I went to change it to one of the 4 GeForce FX Go5200 WDDM drivers for Glass just like I have done for the last year to get Glass. No dice. Microsoft seems to have put some kind of driver protection in that if the driver is not signed or for the device, it sets it to VGA and won't allow it. The gist is now I have bo Glass and I did with RC1. Also, all of those good comments about performance in RC1 seems to have gone by the wayside as RC2 is noticably slower. I even had to turn off the Search service which was fine in RC1.  SQL Server 2005 Standard is installed so far but again without Reporting Services. Don't forgot to apply SP1 for Yukon on Vista. '

Update: New NVidia Vista Drivers 9/1/06 here. I'll try those for Glass.

Update3: Microsoft has released Windows Vista RC2 as a public download.
This build (5744) has a number of improvements and updates from previous builds, and has been through daily testing processes to refine quality and performance. However, it does not come with the same level of support as RC1 (5600).
