I just upgraded my main machine from RC2 to RTM. The upgrade took over 3 hours in compute setup time! So far, I'm seriously underwhelmed but that could because I have used RC2 every day for weeks and maybe I'm missing something but:
- NVidia GeForce FX Go5200 driver not installed by default, installs stupid generic VGA driver
- Using Windows Update to update driver to a 10/29 driver for the above fails with some cryptic error code
- Installing NVidia GeForce FX Go5200 driver manually gives no Aero or Glass
- Installing WDDM driver manually for above did successfully give me Aero Glass
- Aero looks the same as RC2; I don't see any of the rumored UI extras that were supposedly held back until RTM
- I used the Administrator account on RC2. I get that I am dumped into the Sam account but unlike RC2, the main User Accounts page does NOT have a setting to turn on the Administrator account. WTF am I supposed to do with all my existing settings, programs, music, etc there???
- In fact, I fail to find a single apparent change from RC2 so I feel like I went to the candy store and they were closed-)
Anyone see things I'm missing? I'll go watch movies with the kids as I feel disapointed....
Daniel (among others) confirms no new features (-
Update: I was able to turn on the Administrator account by using Computer Management | Local Users and Groups
