To Zune or not to Zune - that is the question...

I preordered a Zune the other night within minutes of Amazon posting it.  My dilemma is that with an 18 hour flight coming up, I need something to listen to music and podcasts.  It looks like I'll jump on the iPod bandwagon for now - not sure if I'll go iPod Video or Nano.

It would sure be nice if they could partition a portion of the device as a USB drive...  oh well.

First, I would cancel the Zune order -- though a Zune sounds cool having both an iPod and Zune seems redundant.

If you have a large library, or need a large USB drive I'd go with the video for the larger drive.  Otherwise, the nano is good cause of battery and no moving parts.  I borked my first iPod by dropping it while the hard drive was being accessed.

For the time being, I dropped my Zune order and I'm trying out the SanDisk sansa device.  I prefer the iPod physical interface, but I like the recordable-FM/video/solid-state-ness of the Sansa so far.  I'll see after a little use if it's really the one.
