I almost never post just a link but wow! http://www.zedshaw.com/rants/rails_is_a_ghetto.html
of particular interest should be the advice to someone hiring consultants because some of it is dead on.

His post made my day. Subscribed.
J.P. Hamilton – Yeah I noticed that too, which is what gave it the ring of authenticity. It is a very entertaining post anyway.
Subscribed. This guy is my hero of the week. Yes, he’s angry. Yes, he calls people out. But the thing I noticed most is that he doesn’t exclude himself. He says where he has been an a-hole or an idiot, too. He might come off wrong, but I see integrity there. Funny as hell, too.
Subscribed here too!!! Too fuckin’ funny that guy.
It’s pretty funny watching all the geekosphere get bent out of shape from this guy. Judging the reaction Zed is getting today, you have to admit most of you guys are a bit too uptight.
If you would take the time to read the rest of his site, you would realize he’s just a funny MFer. I can tell because I have the same sense of humor and most people take me the wrong way too.
I’m tempted to write him with a proposal to start an angry consultancy. We could do kick ass work and make an entire office either afraid or entertained! LOL
That was one of the greatest posts I’ve ever read. Subscribed!!
That guy is pissed off!
Yeah, the guy definately comes across poorly. The bit about the consultants was true. The bit about getting hired onto a team and then having the architect and dev leads all be idiots is funny as well. Most of the architects we have at our company couldn’t write AppleSoft BASIC, much less anything modern.
That guy’s post and much of his blog screams “I know better than everyone else and I can’t get along with anyone”. I understand why he might have difficulty finding work. I’d be terrified to put someone like that on my team for fear of what they’d do to the culture.
