Foundations Of Programming - Learning Application

A complete learning application to show hands-on implementations of the Foundations of Programming teachings. This is a Visual Studio 2008, C# application. It contains both a web application (MVC Preview 4, assemblies included) and a console application. Should run without any needed configuration (fingers crossed!)

If you're having troubles downloading the file, I've also uploaded at: http://www.thecodewiki.com/CodeBetter.Awards.zip

A very excellent job you have done - both the Foundations of Programming pdf book and the learning application! This makes it very much easier to enter the realm of agile development from a tools and method perspective.

This isn't a valid .zip archive. Comes down at 1.6MB instead of 1.2

Do you also have a book for beginners? I want to learn...

Love the book! But I can't get the darned app to run on even a machine with no MVC ever bits installed. That results in the Void System.Web.Mvc.RouteCollectionExtensions.IgnoreRoute(System.Web.Routing.RouteCollection, System.String) error which doesn't fit since I don't have any GAC-based or earlier MVC bits floating around. Even on a machine with Beta bits in the Program Files tree, it should still reference the ones you provided. Doh!

Love the book. Thanks a lot. Very informative.

The application is great too - but unfortunately I cannot get the test project to run.

If I set the Test project as the startup, then press F5 I get the "A project with an Output Type of Class Library cannot be started directly."

I am running VS 2008 and just opened the sln file.

Thanks

Stu

1.  Thanks for the work Karl.

2. This application was written before the release version of ASP.Net MVC.  As such, it took a bit of work for me to get it to compile.

I subsequently learned (from Karl) that he has another application showing these concepts that DOES use the  release version of MVC.

It can be found at:

Cheers
